    About Divorce Attorney Mediation

A divorce trial attorney who would rather keep you out of the courtroom.

Many mediators have never tried a divorce case. Jonathan Jacobs has spent his career doing exactly that.  He is the trial-tested managing partner of Jacobs Family Law Firm, representing spouses and parents across Central Florida in contested divorce, child custody, alimony, child support, and paternity litigation.

Mr. Jacobs’ experience is precisely why he became a Florida Supreme Court certified family mediator. After years in courtrooms across Orange, Lake, Seminole, Osceola, and surrounding counties, Jonathan has seen firsthand what litigation does to families: the months of waiting, the tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, and the toll it takes on children caught in the middle.

He founded Divorce Attorney Mediation to give couples a better path; a path focused on productive sessions, fair agreements, and at a fraction of the cost.

Why mediate with a divorce attorney?

When you mediate with Jonathan, you’re working with a neutral who knows what happens if you don’t settle. He knows what Florida judges expect in a parenting plan, how equitable distribution and alimony are likely to play out under Florida law, and how to structure an agreement. That knowledge helps both spouses make informed decisions and reach agreements that are realistic, durable, and ready to file.

As a mediator, Jonathan does not represent either spouse. He is a neutral whose only job is helping the two of you reach an agreement you both can live with.

    Background and credentials

    • Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator
    • Florida Bar licensed attorney since 2017; managing partner of Jacobs Family Law Firm
    • Cum laude graduate of Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law
    • Author of Florida Divorce Blueprint, and other scholarly articles
    • Former professor with a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut and doctoral coursework at Florida International University
    • Host of the Florida Divorce Lawyer Podcast
    • Collaboratively trained.

Attorney Jacobs’ writing and teaching background matters more than it might seem: the agreement you leave mediation with is a document, and how clearly it’s drafted determines whether it protects you for years or causes new disputes.

    A personal note from Jonathan

“I’m a father myself, and I’ve spent years advocating for parents in courtrooms across Central Florida. I’ve seen families spend their children’s college funds fighting each other. Mediation exists so that doesn’t have to be your story. My job is to sit with both of you  in person in Clermont or Winter Park, or virtually from anywhere in Florida and help you find the agreement that lets you move forward. Most couples finish in a single session. It would be my privilege to help you finish yours.”

    Serving all of Central Florida

Divorce Attorney Mediation serves couples throughout Florida with offices in Clermont and Winter Park and virtual mediation available statewide. Weekday, Saturday, and evening sessions available.
